A melodious marital union occurred in June 21, 1997 when R&B Motown legend Jimmy Mack Harrison and gospel soulster Darlene Hogan exchanged vows. After 10 years of performing with gospel superstars such as Pastor John P Kee, New Divine Destiny, Inner City Mass Choir and scores of others, the husband and wife duo have stepped to the forefront and released their very first EP/CD entitled, “I AM THE DOOR’, and their sophomore project entitled, “EVERYTHING YOU NEED”. Both have made appearances on the Bobby Jones Gospel show as well as other venues while traveling with Pastor Kee.
Jimmy Mack’s unique vocal styling and musical talents placed him in high demand throughout the 60’s and 70’s, and has traveled the globe world wide. He has performed with such renowned artists as Sam Cooke, Mary Wells, The Drifters, Ben E King, Wilson Pickett and many many more. He is also the brother of the world renowned R&B legend, the late Wilbert Harrison who was also infamous and on the Bill Board with his mega hit ’Kansas City’. Prior to discovering his vocal abilities he was first known as an awesome professional drummer. He played with his brother Wilbert while recording ‘Kansas City’, the TKO band & scores of others. Jimmy Mack was also a member of the famed RCA’s recording artist label, the Fabulous Fiestas for which they enjoyed great success with their hit, ’So Fine’. He was also known during the Motown hey days as ‘Lenny Curtis’ with hits such as ‘Nothing Can Help You Now’ & ‘Who You Gonna Run To’ on END records and it continues to be a hit in the UK today. Taking on another persona as ‘Geronimo & the Apaches with Galiko Records and the single titled, ‘Too Late For Tears & Oh Yes Baby I Love You So”. He also had recording performances with another sibling & was called ‘The Harrison Brothers’ & ‘Jim & Bob Harrison’. Jimmy was also a writer & arranger for Motown Records. He continues his infamous talent in the gospel arena and was a featured artist on the Tyscot Record label with his cousin, the Prince of Gospel, Pastor John P Kee. Their duet recording of the song, “Be Ready” (Inner City Mass Choir) was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2000. When not singing, writing and composing, Jimmy is an avid recreational carpenter and lawn perfectionist.
Darlene has been surrounded by gospel music her entire life. She first entered a recording studio at the age of 14 at the Arthur Smith studio now known as StudioEast Recording, Inc, owner (Tim Eaton) to lend lead vocals to a project, ’Keep on Praying’ with Joanne Williams & the Willing Workers for Christ. A few years later, Darlene joined in with their family group, the Hogan Family Gospel Group and was a featured regular on ’The Lester Strong Show’. In recent years she has also performed with Pastor John P Kee and the church choir scoring tremendous hits such as “Mighty in the Spirit’, “Sanctify Me” and Tommy Boy Gospel’s “I Found the Answer’ with New Divine Destiny. Darlene is a loving mother of 3 and has united with her husband to continue their destined paths.
